When to Plant Gladioli Corms
You can plant a gladioli corm from winter to early spring in frost-free temperate areas or year-round in tropical regions. For staggered blooming throughout the season, sow corms every 2-3 weeks until late spring.
How to Grow Gladioli Corms
Plant gladioli corms in a well-drained, well-composted sunny spot in your garden, ideally in spring once the soil has warmed. Plant the corms 10cm (4in) deep and space them 20cm (8in) apart. Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged as the plants grow. Once the shoots appear, support them with stakes to protect them from wind damage. As the plants grow taller, continue to water regularly and feed with a balanced fertiliser every 2-3 weeks. For cut flowers, harvest gladioli when the first few blooms open, cutting the stems at an angle. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage the plant to grow more blooms
