Why Choose Our Cauliflower Seeds?

The best thing about cauliflowers is just how much usable veg you get from just one seed–these impressive vegetables can grow to huge sizes. Larger heads also mean thicker, firmer florets, perfect for roasting, steaming, or adding to your favourite meals.

It’s not just about quantity though–homegrown cauliflowers just taste better than supermarket produce. With our cauliflower seeds, you’ll have plenty to harvest and enjoy, all with that homegrown, fresh flavour. They’re packed with vitamins and minerals, too! And as with all of our seeds, our cauliflower seeds are carefully tested for high germination rates and true-to-type results.

When to Sow Cauliflower Seeds

Sowing cauliflower seeds just as summer turns to autumn gives them more cool weather to work with. Planting in late summer also means you’ll be able to harvest your cauliflower before it starts to warm up next spring. Be sure to give your plants plenty of time to mature, so you can enjoy fresh, homegrown cauliflower when the weather cools down.

That being said, this is only for best results; you can grow cauliflower all year round if you like. The only issue is that the summer sun encourages more foliage growth and smaller heads.

How to Grow Cauliflower Seeds

Start by sowing your cauliflower seeds indoors or outdoors. Sow them 1cm (½ in) deep in seed trays or small pots, using a quality seed-raising mix. Keep them in a warm spot and make sure they’re well-watered, but not soggy.

After about six weeks, harden them off and transplant them into a sunny, well-drained spot in your garden. Cauliflower loves a nutrient-dense environment, so enrich the soil with compost. They prefer cooler weather once they’re big enough to withstand it; warm weather makes them bolt or deform.

Be patient: cauliflower can take around 12-16 weeks to mature. Water regularly, especially in dry weather, and harvest when the heads are firm and compact.
