How To Grow
Sow climbing bean Vitalis seeds in spring, summer, or year-round in warm northern areas. Before sowing, prepare the soil by adding compost or aged manure. Space seeds 10-15cm (4-6") apart, with 50-60cm (20-24") between rows. Plant seeds 25mm (1") deep in damp soil after the last frost and water after 1-2 days. For best results, plant in rows 1-3m (3-10') long and keep the roots cool by applying a layer of garden compost mulch. Water thoroughly during dry periods. Support plants with canes, netting, or bean frames. Seedlings should emerge in 7-10 days. Additional fertiliser is not necessary, as legumes like climbing bean Vitalis produce their own nitrogen. Regularly remove weeds to encourage healthy growth, and harvest the beans regularly to improve yield.
