Soy Bean Edamame

Sow direct into growing position when soil temperature has reached 20°C. Ensure soil has been well-prepared with organic materials and compost. Sow seeds 25mm (1”) deep in rich, well drained soil in full sun, spacing plants and rows 30cm (12”) apart.

Keep moist once pods start to fill. Best picked young

Seedlings emerge 7-10 days.

Additional fertilsing is not required as legumes produce their own nitrogen.

Edamame soybeans are easy to grow. Sow your bean seeds directly into their final growing position once the soil temperature reaches at least 20°C. Plant them 25mm (1”) deep in rich, well-drained soil in full sun, with 30cm (12”) spacing between plants and rows. Keep the soil moist once pods begin to fill, and pick them young for the best flavour. Seedlings will emerge in 7–10 days. Additional fertilising is unnecessary, as legumes produce their own nitrogen.
