Egyptian Spinach Seeds

Frequently Bought Together
Product Description
Bring a taste of Egypt to your garden with these Egyptian Spinach seeds. Also known as Nalta Jute, Molokhia, Bush Okra, and many other names, this multipurpose plant is grown throughout Africa and Asia and is particularly popular in Egypt, hence its name. These hardy and fast-cropping vegetable seeds grow well in Australian gardens, thriving in a variety of climate conditions and soil types.
Egyptian Spinach is grown for its delicious and highly nutritious leaves and shoots, which are generally best enjoyed cooked. Spinach is ideal for adding to soups, stews, and stir-fries, bringing a mild, nutty, and slightly earthy flavour. Pick the young shoots and leaves regularly to delay flowering and extend your harvest.

Sow Egyptian Spinach seeds in seed trays filled with a quality seed-raising mix or directly into their final growing position. Sow thinly but firmly, 5mm (1/4in) deep, and keep the soil moist as they germinate. Egyptian Spinach seedlings typically appear within 7–10 days. When they are strong enough, transplant them to the garden, spacing the plants 30cm (12in) apart.
You can harvest these fast-cropping vegetables in as little as six weeks after sowing by picking the young leaves and shoots as needed. Regular harvesting of young growth helps delay flowering and extends the harvest period.
