Youngberry
Developed in 1905, this blackberry/raspberry/dewberry cross is similar to boysenberry but with slightly smaller, sweeter and shinier berries. Perfect for extending your cane berry season.
How To Grow
Youngberries have excellent disease resistance and vigorous growth. Plant Youngberries to grow on a trellis. Tie the stems loosely the line so they are not damaged by wind, and sit off the ground. In warm climates Youngberries should be protected from hot afternoon sun. In winter, prune out the weak, damaged canes to make way for healthy new growth. Around ten stems per plant is ideal. You will get the best harvest after a couple of year’s growth.
Cover roots 50cm apart in full sun.
Feed plants with a complete fertilizer as fruit is forming.
